Intern testimonials: Intern to full-time journey at UiPath

For many UiPath employees, an internship was just the beginning. What started as a few months of learning turned into a full-time role and, for many, a career worth staying for. Rather than hearing it from us, hear it from the people who experienced it firsthand. In this blog, six former interns—Christopher, Angelica, Andreea, Catalina, Ayushi, and Sourya—share their journeys from intern to full-time employee, offering an unfiltered look at what it's really like to grow at UiPath.

What was your assumption about UiPath before day one, and what surprised you the most?

Christopher Bodea, Product Manager (Intern at UiPath during the summers of 2022 and 2023): "I thought I understood what product management looked like—but I had no idea how deep it really goes. Reading and hearing about it just scratches the surface. The real job is messier, more nuanced, and honestly far more interesting than anything I had imagined. But what surprised me most was how willing everyone was to make time for me—no matter how busy their schedules were. People I had just met would sit down, answer my questions, walk me through their roles, and share their experiences openly and honestly. That kind of access and generosity isn't something you can find just anywhere, and I never took it for granted."

Angelica Svolos, Senior Internal Communications Specialist (Intern at UiPath during the summer of 2023): "Before joining UiPath, I thought automation was just found in cars. But what surprised me most was how much influence UiPath has (in both our people and through customers/partners) across the world."

Andreea Stan, Software Engineer I (Intern at UiPath during the summer of 2025): "I imagined it would be intimidating—big company, complex products. Everyone knows what they’re doing, except me. But what surprised me most was how normal everyone is. People just help you. No stupid questions, no “figure it out yourself.” Someone always has 5 minutes for you."

Catalina Ianus, Product Manager (Intern at UiPath during the summer of 2022): "I thought that working days were exactly as I imagined growing up—same routine from 9 to 5. But what surprised me most was how every day is unique and how challenges push us to keep learning and stay curious."

Ayushi Mourya, Test Manager (Intern at UiPath during the summer of 2024): "Before joining, I thought working at a large tech company meant doing small, isolated tasks with little real impact. But what surprised me most was how quickly I was trusted with meaningful work. From early on, I was contributing to a real feature that actual customers would use, and trust me, not all companies out there offer this experience to fresh interns, who are stepping into the world of corporate life."

Sourya Roy, Software Engineer II (Intern at UiPath during the summer of 2023): "I thought it would be a huge uphill climb from college dorms and coding competitions to large offices and industry grade software. Getting into UiPath was faceted: on one hand, the sheer joy of cracking the interviews and getting to experience something new, and on the other, the apprehension and nerves of the proverbial “coming of age” moment in my career. But what surprised me most was the ease of transitioning into such a big organization. Day one was a fairytale: huge conference rooms, new laptops, in-house cafes (all the things that college grads search for in YouTube videos about their first office)! As I settled in, I found people to be nothing but helpful and accommodating. Sparing the details of every nuance, in one line, I’d say the entire ecosystem (and all its participants) is conducive to newcomers feeling welcome at UiPath."

What's the most valuable skill, lesson, or mindset shift you took away from your time as an intern at UiPath?

Christopher: "During my internship, I learned how to work cross-functionally, ask the right clarifying questions, and engage directly with customers to understand their real pain points. More than that, I learned how to take all of that input—from different teams, different perspectives, different priorities—and translate it into something clear and actionable for a room full of people with very different backgrounds and interests."

Angelica: "I learned to speak up and volunteer for as many opportunities (like hosting an Executive Speaker Series) as possible, even if I was scared."

Andreea: "I learned that being stuck is part of the job, not a sign you’re bad at it. Everyone gets stuck. The difference is what you do next. A 10 minute conversation can save you a full day of guessing. Collaboration isn’t a soft skill, it’s the fastest debugging tool you have."

Catalina: "During my internship, I learned how teams bring together diverse expertise like puzzle pieces to create something great!"

Ayushi: "I learned how AI can be practically applied to solve everyday pain points. I learned how a large-scale Angular + .Net product is structured and how frontend and backend teams collaborate across a monorepo."

Sourya: "During my internship, I learned the importance of simply putting yourself out there. Have a question? Ask a senior. In a meeting and have an idea? Don’t be afraid to say it out loud. Feeling a little stuck on your project? Have a word with your manager. Some intern event being held? Go volunteer for that. A quintessential purpose of this internship is to see how one navigates challenges, and expectations are always set likewise. It is often our fear of judgment that prevents us from being judged accurately."

What is the one thing you wish you knew earlier?

Christopher: "One thing I wish I knew earlier was not to measure your worth by output alone. The most valuable thing you can do is show up with humility, ask the uncomfortable questions, and treat every conversation as a chance to understand something you didn't before."

Angelica: "One thing I wish I knew earlier was even though I am early in my career, I'm here for a reason, people value my insight, and I should take advantage of the opportunities here to 'be a sponge'."

Andreea: "One thing I wish I knew earlier was just to ask. I spent hours stuck on things that took someone two minutes to explain. Nobody judges you for not knowing."

Catalina: "One thing I wish I knew earlier was to share my fresh perspective confidently and more often (no gatekeeping)."

Ayushi: "One thing I wish I knew earlier was to just ask more questions—early and often. I spent a lot of time trying to figure things out on my own, when honestly, a quick conversation with a teammate would have saved me hours and given me so much more clarity."

Sourya: "One thing I wish I knew earlier was I’d much rather be vocal and corrected than quiet and overlooked. Intern projects at UiPath are scarcely backburners—they are central and pivotal to the product suite. In such projects, it is important to make your presence known. As interns, it is most obvious to have more questions than answers. It is important to ask those questions early. One could also strive to connect with other teams, try to understand what they are doing. Enterprise solutions are at the helm of technological evolution: tech stacks and solutions here provide exposure that college courses simply cannot. It is our duty to indulge!"

What had made the biggest difference on your experience and growth during your internship?

Cristopher: "What made the biggest difference for me was my team. I was fortunate to have managers who were genuinely invested—not just in the work, but in me. They took the time to understand my goals and helped me build a real path toward them. Don't take that for granted if you find it."

Angelica: "What made the biggest difference for me was trying to learn something and meet someone new every day!"

Andreea: "The biggest difference for me was my team. They let me own real work, not intern busywork. When I broke something, they helped me fix it instead of taking it away from me."

Catalina: "What made the biggest difference for me was the team I worked with—both my manager and my product and engineering peers—who were endlessly patient and supportive throughout my journey."

Ayushi: "What made the biggest difference for me was my team, my manager, and my mentor. They were really supportive throughout the internship's duration. The whole Test Manager team was welcoming, patient, and genuinely invested in helping me grow, not just as a developer, but as someone who understands the product and the users behind it."

Sourya: "My project and my mentors! The project I worked on was based on generative AI: one of the brightest shining stars in tech at the time. As a result, I was deeply interested in the work itself, and dead set on taking it to completion. Secondly, my mentor (who still happens to be my mentor!) is inspirational: the most perfect role model one could ask for. Coupling this with a good office atmosphere, great friends, and sumptuous in-house food options meant several stars had already aligned!"

If you could give one advice to the next batch of UiPath interns, what would it be?

Christopher: "My advice to future interns is don't be afraid to ask questions. Questions are not a sign of weakness—they're a sign of curiosity, engagement, and a genuine desire to learn. The best people in any room are usually the ones still asking them."

Angelica: "Use this internship to build your confidence, your network, and exposure to a variety of functions and people around the world."

Andreea: "Don’t try to understand everything on day one. It’s alright to be confused for weeks. One day it just clicks, and suddenly you’re the one explaining it to someone else."

Catalina: "If you believe in something, put in the effort and make it happen!"

Ayushi: "Take ownership. Don't wait to be told what to do next - propose ideas, follow up, and treat the project like it's yours. And document everything. This one I truly appreciated when the final presentations came around, and I'm so glad my mentors drilled this into me from day one. Every experiment, every approach, every dead end, note it down. It becomes your personal journal of the project, and more importantly, it proves that you didn't just complete the work but that you explored it, questioned it, and made it your own."

Sourya: "Don’t be afraid to speak up. Document your work very meticulously: both your learnings and the work that you have done. It is very helpful not just for the final presentation but for upskilling and retention in general. Actively seek advice on time management and planning. I had greatly overestimated my abilities in the same way, until I saw people extract 25 hours from a day. It is then I learned that if implementation is a science, planning is an art!"

In a few words or a sentence, how would you describe your overall internship experience at UiPath?

Christopher: "My internship at UiPath was the perfect introduction to what it means to be a product manager. Now, as a full-time employee, I can honestly say that the skills, habits, and ways of thinking I developed during those months still show up in my work every single day."

Angelica: "An unforgettable, impactful moment in my career."

Andreea: "For the first time I felt like an actual engineer, not a student pretending to be one."

Catalina: "My internship at UiPath was the life event that really reshaped my path in life!"

Ayushi: "It was one of the most valuable learning experiences I've had: a perfect mix of technical challenges, great people, and real-world impact."

Sourya: "Transformative. I had the absolute privilege of working with stalwarts, on a cutting-edge project, in a vibrant and exciting office, and among warm and affectionate people! In fact, the friends I made during that time are some of my closest to this day! Work-wise, I stood to learn each day (which is true now, too) and was ultimately very glad to have the opportunity extended to work full time. To anyone interning here: welcome and all the best!
