Monthly Mindblowers: UiPath Robots Can Now Build Other Robots, Play Poker, and Check Into Flights

Monthly Mindblowers is an ongoing challenge where UiPath employees get a chance to put our platform to use building robots for unconventional purposes.

Intentionally open-ended, Mindblowers has acted as an incubator for solutions to a wide range of problems, from the ridiculously whimsical to the brilliantly practical.

Here are the top three entries from October's fierce competition.

1. THE WINNER: Bot Building Bots, by Aristo Setiawan

This robot works with LEGO BOOST, a playset that lets kids construct robots from various components. Aristo's son is able to use this robot to interact with the robot builder via voice commands.

2. Poker Bot, by Alexandru Roman

Online poker involves a lot of waiting around. The typical strategy is to fold every hand, until you get a strong deal. This robot handles the first step, reading the hand's strength and then either folding, or calling for the human to play it out. It also gives live odds, to assist the decision-making process.

3. Auto Flight Check-In, by Nathan Welch & Shashank Pancharpula

The most pragmatic submission, this robot acts as a virtual assistant, checking you into your flight exactly 24 hours in advance, to ensure that you don't miss out on getting a good seat. It even sends you a text to let you know whether check-in was successful.
