About The Work That Remains

Artificial intelligence is transforming how work gets done, but deploying AI is only the beginning. The real challenge is turning intelligence into reliable, accountable action inside complex enterprises.

In this timely and practical book, Daniel Dines draws on two decades of experience building enterprise automation to argue that the future of AI depends on far more than powerful models. It requires the architecture that makes AI safe, scalable, and trustworthy: orchestration, automation, governance, auditability, and human oversight.

Dines introduces a simple but powerful operating model: AI proposes. Humans decide. Automation executes.

Together, these three layers enable organizations to move beyond AI experiments and into production at enterprise scale, where decisions have consequences, regulations matter, and execution must be reliable.

Blending strategic insight with practical guidance, the book explains why AI agents cannot simply be dropped into existing businesses, what infrastructure organizations must build instead, and how leaders can navigate the transition without either slowing innovation or creating unnecessary risk.

For executives, technology leaders, and anyone responsible for bringing AI into the enterprise, this book offers a clear framework for understanding the next era of business: not just intelligent systems, but systems that turn intelligence into measurable outcomes.
