You read that right: automation has landed on macOS.
Now you can build UI automations for your favorite macOS desktop apps like Keynote, Numbers, Mail, Microsoft Office, and even Java apps like SAP GUI. Whether you're a solo developer automating tasks or part of an enterprise team standardizing workflows across macOS devices, UiPath has you covered. All you need is UiPath Studio Web and the latest UiPath Assistant for Mac. It’s quick to set up, easy to use, and feels native.
Studio Web now supports local testing and comes with a new Selector Editor built for UI automation on macOS. That means you can build, test, and debug automations right from your Mac, no switching environments required.
Here’s how to get started.
Before jumping in, check that you have the right setup:
UiPath Studio Web: Log in to your UiPath Automation Cloud™ tenant and choose Studio.
UiPath Assistant for Mac: Version 2025.0.167 or newer (ARM-based Apple silicon).
Permissions: Assistant will request Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions the first time you launch. Grant access to proceed.
Make sure both Studio Web and Assistant are connected to the same tenant.
Open Studio Web Start a new project and add a Use application/browser activity.
Enable local indication Turn on Indicate on local machine. Click Test on local machine, then approve the prompt to open UiPath Assistant.
Pick your app Use UiPath Assistant to select any open macOS app window—Mail, Keynote, whatever you need. The first load may take a bit depending on your network speed.
Add a UI activity Inside the Use application scope, drop in an activity like Click. Hit Indicate target, and Studio Web will minimize so you can select the UI element you want. Use the new Selection Helper or the Selector Editor for extra control.
