Much like a Robotic Process Automation (RPA) robot, technology trends never sleep. For business and IT leaders, keeping up with the latest and greatest can feel like building the track in front of a bullet train. However, when we take a step back and consider the true end goal, we can see those trends as the logical next step to a technology already in use. This is certainly the case with RPA and the trend of hyperautomation.
We started by automating simple, mundane, rules-based tasks. Then business leaders began adopting an ‘automation first’ mindset: whatever can be automated, will be automated. Now, with hyperautomation, we are simply expanding the idea of what can be automated beyond those individual tasks and simple processes.
By combining RPA with machine learning, natural language processing, artificial intelligence (AI), and more, businesses will be able to automate complex, long-running processes—even those that require exception processing and human intervention.
With hyperautomation you can drive the kind of organizational efficiencies that make a difference in everything from your business’ day-to-day operations to your bottom line, and customer and employee satisfaction.
Of course, this kind of automation cannot and should not be applied haphazardly. Hyperautomation requires strategic planning and architecture, so let’s talk about some of the things you should consider in your hyperautomation journey.

The RPA market is experiencing a renaissance, with new offerings, vendors, and models emerging daily, so it’s important to consider your organization’s short- and long-term needs when deciding on an RPA vendor to support your hyperautomation goals. Consider whether a platform is truly built for hyperautomation and whether it will support the integrations and components you need to create end-to-end automations.
You should also build a foundation for organizational adoption early in your hyperautomation journey. Engage with stakeholders across your business to determine the best opportunities for automation, as well as how success will be tracked and who will be responsible for governance.
