Meet the Leaders: Alexandru Mihailciuc, Global VP of Pre-Sales

This series will give you the opportunity to get to know some of the Leaders at UiPath. They are the ones who carry a lot of extra responsibilities on top of overseeing projects and processes. They make sure to hire the right people for their teams. They act like coaches and they support you to become the best version of yourself.

We have some talented colleagues in UiPath. They are passionate, they are resourceful and they're willing to create something that’s never been created before.

We are pleased to introduce Alexandru Mihailciuc. He’s been with UiPath for 3 years now. He is currently leading the global Pre-Sales team. The team has now over 260 technical consultants, engineers and industry experts. Their mission is to deliver Demos, RPA solutions and POCs  (Proof of Concepts) to UiPath customers and prospectscompanies in different industries, as well as public sector organizations.

Tell us a bit about your career journey so far. How did you get to where you are today?

I started my career in Genpact. I am grateful for all the things I’ve learned over the years there. For example, I learned to focus and look at processes from a very in-depth perspective. I've also learned and understood how important it is to make sure you always strive to improve processes and ways of working. Maybe one of the most important learnings, was how to lead peopleHow to do performance management the right way, setting meaningful goals and following through as well as motivating and creating high performance teams.

I’ve been a boomerang employee with Genpact. When I first joined, I stayed for 3 years. Then I decided to go and explore other opportunities. I’ve even been part of other companies among which IBM for a period. I decided to come back to Genpact, where I stayed for other 4 years. In 2017, my journey with Genpact came to an end, as I decided to join UiPath.

Who has had a tremendous impact on you as a leader? Maybe someone who has been a mentor to you? Why and how did this person impact your life?

One of my former leaders in Genpact, a Dutch guy, who was leading the company's global operations back then was really inspiring to me. He was my mentor for a while, and I consider him the person who really guided and influenced my career. I think the best thing that I’ve learned from him is what you should really focus on as a leader. How you need to control some of your feelings and underlying reactions which might come the natural way and drive you, influence your actions. When you are in a leadership position, you need to filter some things out if your team doesn’t benefit of knowing them. As a leader you need to be in full control of your emotions and reactions.

What made you choose UiPath out of all the other tech companies out there?

had a safe and stable job at Genpact, when this opportunity came upI was thinking UiPath is a Romanian start-up. What value could I bring to it?. I struggled for a while with the decision and, to be honest, the thing that changed my mind was meeting Daniel. The moment I met him I knew that I want to work at UiPath right away. I can say that it was the best career decision I made so far.

Knowing what you know now as an experienced professional, if you could give ‘early career you a piece of advice, what would it be?

Be patient. Try to use any opportunity to learn. Try to make the best out of it, even if it feels like it hit you in your face and hurt youFor the situations that might look like a step back, do the same: use them as opportunities to learn, so that the next time you’ll do better, see the upside! Finally, although it might be a cliché, good things will come when you least expect them. 😊

What are the most important decisions you make as a leader of your team?

The most important decisions that I make as a leader for my team fall into two main categories. One is improving our business. What should we do to grow UiPath, grow our brand, our product and our sales. The second category is about people and making the right decisions for them. Helping them be the best versions of themselves so that we can achieve our goals. We cannot do that without our highly motivated teams.

We hope this made you a bit more curious, as we look forward to meeting you! You can check the available roles in our teams here – we hope you will find something interesting 😊

Stay safe!
