2023.4 UiPath Business Automation Platform spotlight

 UiPath 2023.4 platform spotlight

In the UiPath 2023.4 platform spotlight, our team of product experts delved into the potential and practicalities of AI-powered automation. In this blog post, we tackle some of the most pressing questions posed by our audience. Most commonly asked questions were answered. The questions have been gathered and sorted based on three individual sessions.

AI-powered automation and faster time to value

Q: How do we ensure data security when utilizing third-party APIs, and what measures are in place to maintain GDPR compliance when using these APIs?

A: UiPath prebuilt AI and ML connectors enable a simplified way of authenticating via standard protocols such as OAuth 2.0. There is granular control and governance for authorizations when connections are shared across the UiPath Business Automation Platform.

Q: How is the billing for AI Units managed in UiPath Communications Mining?

A: Emails and tickets are charged at one AI Unit per message.

Q: Can UiPath Document Understanding be used to summarize redundant documentation?

A: Yes, UiPath Document Understanding can handle redundant information in documents.

Q: Is it possible to summarize and create a single source of knowledge from the redundant documentation generated from ERP implementations?

A: Certainly, UiPath Process Mining is equipped to address this. It has the ability to utilize the logs from all these backend systems and can even amalgamate them if required.

Q: Where can I find the list of the pre-trained ML models?

A: You can find the pre-trained ML models in UiPath documentation portal.

Q: If I have my own trained machine learning models, is it possible to deploy them through UiPath AI Center™?

A: Yes, it is.

Q: Is it necessary to subscribe to RUs in order to use UiPath Studio and unattended robots for automations created using Studio? I am specifically interested in the case of ServiceNow integration.

A: Studio Web includes several RUs licenses for serverless design time. However, if you want to push your project into production, you need one of the options: serverless, cloud robots or an unattended license. RUs allow you to access and utilize UiPath Business Automation Platform, including Studio and unattended robots, for seamless integration with ServiceNow and other applications.

Q: Given that the data contains personally identifiable information (PII), is the email encrypted for security purposes?

A: Yes, data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Q: How do you manage project tasks or work that don't leave a digital footprint?

A: UiPath Task Mining can capture all the tasks and processes that happen on your teams' screens and desktops. From there on, you can create the task graphs and take the best actions.

Q: Is there a reference available for automations using the Amazon Connect API?

A: Check out the full documentation about Amazon Connect Activity Package.

Q: How do you prevent the accidental capture of sensitive information during screen recording and screen capture?

A: PII is a key focus and priority for all customers that are implementing UiPath Task Mining.

Q: Is using integration services in UiPath Studio equivalent to those in Studio Web?

A: Yes, Integration Service (i.e., created connections), is seamlessly available in Studio as well as in Studio Web.

Q: Does Azure OpenAI keep any data fed to it, or can we be assured that the data is removed immediately after use?

A: Please refer to data, privacy, and security for Azure OpenAI Service - Azure Cognitive Services | Microsoft Learn.

Q: Which UiPath Studio package includes the OpenAI Connector?

A: The OpenAI Connector appears alphabetically in the connector catalog on the Integration Service home page (via Automation Cloud). This is where connections and authorizations are created. Additionally, UiPath Studio has an activity that allows you to include an OpenAI connector in your automations. To find out more, please visit our documentation portal. The OpenAI Connector is also available on marketplace.

Q: Does UiPath AI Center™ feature any integration with DataRobot?

A: DataRobot is UiPath tech partner integrating with UiPath Business Automation Platform.

Q: Does UiPath Communications Mining's sentiment analysis function support French, or is it exclusive to English?

A: Yes, UiPath Communications Mining works with French.

Q: Our ticketing system is multilingual (English, Italian, French, German). Are there any limitations with data mining, such as unsupported languages, or the need to create different pipelines for each language?

A: All the languages you mentioned are supported by UiPath Communications Mining.

Q: We notice that UiPath Integration Service allows triggering a process with server-side events. Is there a plan to add a queue item based on server-side events? For instance, when a new case appears in Salesforce, I would like certain information to be added to a specific queue as a queue item.

A: Event Triggers to queues are planned but will not be available in 2023. A workaround is available where a robot can be triggered by the event, and then the item is placed in queue as the only action in the automation workflow.

Q: Are there any AI capabilities associated with post-production stages, such as self-healing, automation, or intelligent orchestration?

A: You can create different custom ML models in UiPath AI Center™. Also, in UiPath Document Understanding, the human validation output can be sent to pipeline for further automatic ML model, to improve the model accuracy over time.

Q: VS Code data operations could be complex for non-developers. Is there a UI option or a VS Code extension planned in the UiPath roadmap to replace these coding operations?

A: Yes, user experience for Document Understanding and AI Center will be simplified in the upcoming releases (2023.10-2024.4).

Step-change improvements for developers

Q: Can we get a report of all tasks pending in the UiPath AI Center™?

A: In the “My Actions” view, you have available all tasks that are in pending, unassigned, or completed status.

Q: Is it possible to import a project from Studio Web to StudioX, and finally to Studio?

A: Anything you build with Studio Web is compatible with StudioX and Studio. If you've started a project in Studio Web, you can open it in StudioX, customize it further, go back to Studio Web, or open it in Studio.

Q: Is it possible for team members to collaborate on the same project across different platforms simultaneously? Specifically, can an RPA developer use the Studio desktop application while a citizen developer or business unit employee works on the Studio Web for the same project? (cross-functional role-based collaboration)

A: Defintively, users with different roles can work on the same project, but not in parallel, at the same time. For example, once a business unit employee has completed his edits in Studio Web, he can hand over the file to an RPA developer. The developer can open it in Studio desktop or continue the project in Studio Web. More than that, Studio Web enables users to build cross-platform automations across online business apps and services.

Q: Is live streaming available for Studio and Studio Web?

A: For both Studio Web and Studio, you can access the live stream of the robot running the automation, while a job is in progress. This is possible when troubleshooting or debugging is needed.

Q: Can we open a process in Studio Web when the process was already created in Studio or StudioX?

A: Studio Web is fully compatible with StudioX and Studio. If you build a cross-platform project, you simply need to save it to cloud for further development in Studio Web.

The foundation of enterprise-grade innovation

Q: Can we operate in a hybrid model, where we run UiPath Robots on our on-premises virtual machines, while UiPath Orchestrator is hosted in the cloud?

A: Yes, in the scenario you've described, it should indeed work with the cloud-based UiPath Orchestrator managing on-premises robots.

Q: How is the enhanced security mentioned for UiPath Automation Cloud being licensed?

A: Features like IP Range Filtering and encryption are exclusive to the enterprise licensing plan and require the Advanced Tier.

We hope this post has offered valuable insights, clarified your queries, and provided guidance on the areas you were interested in. As the landscape of AI-powered automation continues to evolve, we're dedicated to staying at the forefront, innovating, and adapting to best serve our users’ needs.
